Join T2 Utility Engineers (T2ue) in Ashland, VA, as part of our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) field tech team. Our entry-level SUE field techs receive on-the-job training in utility locating and designating, gaining knowledge in Subsurface Utility Engineering, surveying methods, and technology. This role offers outdoor work, benefits, and room for advancement.

Are you self-motivated and eager to learn? We're seeking individuals interested in building a career with a leader in the utility locating industry. No prior industry experience needed; we provide training, and you bring the initiative.

Since 1993, T2 Utility Engineers has provided professional SUE, utility locating, and surveying services supporting various infrastructure projects. Using advanced technology, our team offers quality data and insights to help clients visualize, plan, and design projects safely and efficiently.

SUE Technician I Responsibilities include:
  • Learn to operate SUE utility locating and designating equipment, including pipe and cable locators and vacuum excavation tools.
  • Use tools such as jackhammers, pogo-tamper, concrete saws, compressors, vacuum hoses, air lances, and hand tools for utility investigations.
  • Drive commercial vehicles without needing a CDL license.
  • Complete daily work logs, including basic mathematics.
  • Perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance.
  • Set up and maintain traffic safety operations under supervision.
  • Assist with survey and data collection tasks to support crew activities.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and obtain a DOT medical card.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks with heavy tools and equipment.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, including overnight stays.
  • Good oral communication skills and attention to detail.
  • OSHA safety certifications and utility experience are pluses.
