LJA, Inc. is seeking a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Director in Maitland, FL to lead and grow the SUE and utility coordination practice. The role spans operations, technical excellence, and business development across projects with regional clients.

The Director will oversee field crews, ensure quality and schedule adherence, and drive proposals and client relationships while maintaining ASCE 38-22 compliance and safe practices.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geomatics, Engineering, GIS or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of verifiable experience and 5 years of running SUE Crews.
• Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and other geophysical designating technologies.
• Must be familiar with ASCE 38-22.
• Must know how to locate all utilities, public and private.

POSITION OVERVIEW: As a SUE Director at LJA Inc, you lead and grow a SUE and utility coordination practice, bridging operational management, technical excellence, and business development. This position will lead SUE projects and staff, manage financial performance and client relationships, ensure the quality of staff and work products, and expand the services LJA provides. A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

• Oversee day-to-day SUE field crews, project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure quality and budget adherence.
• Drive regional market expansion, prepare proposals, and build relationships with clients and utility owners.
• Ensure compliance with SUE quality levels (Levels A–D) and industry standards like ASCE guidelines.
• Coordination with utility owners, survey staff and the project engineer.
• Manage regional market expansion, prepare proposals, and build relationships with clients and utility owners.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Geomatics, Engineering, GIS or related discipline

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 10 years of verifiable experience and 5 years of running SUE Crews.
• Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and other geophysical designating technologies.
• Must be familiar with ASCE 38-22
• Must know how to locate all utilities, public and private, such as water, gas, electric, communications, fiber optic, etc.
• Familiarity with surface geophysical equipment, vacuum excavation, and utility mapping standards

PHYISCAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Driving to and from various project sites
• Walking and working outdoors under variable weather condition
