Summary Of Main Duties
Creates a culturally responsive learning environment inclusive of all backgrounds and abilities. Encourages a sense of belonging, develops communication skills, and validates students as asset-based individuals. Fully engages students in discussions and participation.
Essential Functions
- Teaches content and skills for assigned grade or subject, utilizing adopted curricula.
- Implements and develops lesson plans with diverse content.
- Uses models, discussions, reflective writing, and technology to demonstrate concepts.
- Applies best instructional practices within a workshop model.
- Uses authentic assessment practices and strategies to mitigate stereotype threat.
- Formatively assesses students across content areas using various strategies.
- Provides purposeful individual and small group instruction.
- Plans and co-teaches with colleagues, ensuring inclusive instruction.
- Practices culturally informed behavior management and discipline.
- Uses positive guidance techniques.
- Maintains respectful contact with families from diverse backgrounds.
- Facilitates social, emotional, and cognitive growth among students.
- Collaborates with educators and specialists in curriculum planning.
- Supervises students during out-of-class activities.
- Engages in ongoing professional development.
- Assists in emergency evacuations.
- Performs additional duties as directed, including covering for teacher assistants.
Qualifications & Skills
- Recognizes and addresses racism and privilege.
- Studies and teaches representative history considering diverse backgrounds.
- Addresses racism and inequities when observed.
- Works collaboratively, listening and respectfully sharing views.
- Develops effective classroom schedules.
- Communicates effectively across cultures.
- Proficient with remote learning tools and daily technology (Zoom, Google Classroom, MS Word, etc.).

- Accesses student records as needed, maintaining privacy and security.
- Uses PHI appropriately and completes privacy training.
- Reports suspected violations.

- Utilizes computer and office equipment regularly.
