Description

SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School is seeking applicants for part-time, substitute Teacher positions for the upcoming academic year 2024-2025. The primary purpose of the position is to perform the duties typical of a secondary (grades 9-12) substitute teacher in the absence of a content Faculty Associate. The selected candidate(s) should be punctual for all required meetings, classes, and duty assignments, and remain at the assignment for an appropriate length of time (as determined by the Director). The Substitute Teacher will use various instructional strategies to encourage students’ development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance, employing recognized effective instructional methods. They should demonstrate knowledge of behavior management techniques to implement procedures that promote acceptable classroom behavior with the goal of enhancing students’ learning. At no time should a Teacher leave students unsupervised.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the school. Shifts and days needed may vary. Once listed as a substitute (after the hiring process), positions are on an on-call, as-needed basis.

This posting is for positions beginning fall 2024 through spring 2025 (Academic Year 2024-2025).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess an Illinois substitute teacher certificate through the Illinois Department of Education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of instructional technology tools and data-driven decision making.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn computerized instruction software.
