Job summary

Nenana City School District in Nenana, AK, is seeking a certified Substitute Teacher to join our school community. You will step in for the regular classroom teacher, implement lesson plans, and maintain classroom routines.

Reports to the Building Principal. Requires strong communication, confidentiality, and classroom management. Position is on-site with immediate start; compensation is $213.25 per day.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree in Education preferred for long term assignments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer proficiency is preferred.
• Ability to keep student information confidential is required.
• Strong interpersonal relations and communications skills.
• Strong behavior management and positive discipline skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the daily management and operations of the assigned classroom in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
• Reviews and implements all plans, duties, and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
• Teaches the outlined lesson(s) as provided by the classroom teacher.
• Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to the extent possible.
• Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which classroom teachers are subject.
• Communicates with the classroom teacher.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Nature and Scope of Job:
