Job summary

Chicopee Public Schools Fairview Elementary School in Chicopee, MA is seeking a Substitute Teacher for a building-assigned role. The position is non-union, Cycle II, with salary per terms for non-union personnel.

Qualifications

• MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification preferred.
• Associates Degree in related field.

• Follows the teacher’s written lesson plans. Consults with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concerns.
• Complies with all building procedures and schedules. Including taking precautions to ensure staff/student safety.
• Communicates with the absent teacher.
• Upholds all CPS School Comm. policies.
• Develops and maintains a positive learning environment.
• Works cooperatively with staff and caregivers.
• Incorporates the effective use of available resources including technology.
• Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
• Accepts personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.
• Performs other specific job-related duties as directed by the building principal.

Education

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

OBJECTIVE: The primary function of a substitute teacher is to deliver the district curriculum using the lesson plans of the teacher to help all students reach their highest potential.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification preferred.

ADA & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS ?

• Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, adding machines, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
