Healthy Child Care Colorado is seeking Substitute Early Childhood Teacher Leads to provide essential teaching services for young children in licensed childcare programs. This contractor position offers flexible scheduling in the Denver Metro area, supporting fellow educators while maintaining a safe and enriching learning environment. Qualified candidates must possess Lead Teacher experience, relevant certifications, and a passion for early childhood education, with an hourly pay rate starting at $24.00.
Substitute teach young children as a lead teacher or director in licensed childcare centers and in-home programs (Infant – PreK).
This is a 1099 contractor position. Previous Lead Teacher experience required.

What is SOS?
The Support on Standby Program (SOS) is a licensed substitute teacher placement agency within The Wheelhouse Collaborative that provides Guest Teacher/Substitute Services to childcare centers and homes throughout the Denver Metro area.

What is the short job description?
The SOS Substitute Early Childhood Teacher Lead provides substitution services for young children from infant through school-age when the permanent lead teacher is absent.
All substitutes are independent contractors, not employees of the Wheelhouse Collaborative.
Substitute Lead Teachers are experienced and skilled in managing young children and assistant teachers in partnership with permanent child care staff.
SOS Substitute ECT Leads are knowledgeable of developmentally appropriate curriculum and classroom management skills to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
What are the Key Highlights of this Job?
Overall Responsibilities include: Health, safety and supervision, curriculum implementation, serving meals, managing naptime, communicating with families, and providing a loving, fun, and safe learning environment.
Where will I work?
Our goal is to keep all substitute placements within 30 minutes of your home/school. However, we will go as far as 30 miles depending on the time it takes to travel to the job site. Job locations are spread out around the Denver Metro area.
You will be placed in licensed child care centers which means there is consistency throughout all centers you are placed in. They range in size and philosophy which will be shared with you when you arrive at each job assignment. You will always have time to ask questions before you are expected to in be in-ratio.
Will I work every day?
Yes, we would prefer that! How much you work depends on the hours you provide us in your employment contract. If your offer letter states full-time, we will do everything in our power to keep you at 32-40 hours. There will not be a shortage of work if you are open to travel a bit. Bonuses are available for long travel times.

What are the minimum qualifications for a Substitute ECT Lead?
Qualifications for this position are set by the State of Colorado and are required for all substitute positions. Plan on a one-week turn-around for submitting all documentation after you receive the job offer.
The required documentation includes:
· ECT Leads: EQIT, Pyramid Plus, ECE 101 (Intro) and/or 103 (Guidance) with 1 year working in a classroom as a lead teacher
· Federal and CO Criminal History Background Checks AND CO child abuse background check
· PDIS Teaching Credential Level 2 for leads and level 3 with director qualification
CPR/First Aid Certification
· Additional training is required before being placed on assignment and can be done while submitting documents
How long does it take to get a job offer?
If you’ve worked in ECE and have ECE courses, you can expect to get a job offer by the end of the first online interview or soon after. Our goal is to interview you and assess your qualifications within 5 days of receiving your application.
How long is job training?
Orientation and SOS Job training is 4-6 hours, two hours each and are provided in the evening 6:00 – 8:00PM. We also have daytime training depending on the circumstances.
When can I expect to be working in the field?
For in-state applicants (lived in CO for last 5 years), collection of documents and job training will last one weeks. For out-of-state applicants, up to four (4) weeks due to other background check requirements.
What if I need to change my work schedule?
When you complete your offer letter with your SOS Navigator, you will provide us with your work schedule. We understand that life happens and if you need to change it, just let us know in advance. We require at least a 4-week commitment to a set schedule.
What are typical work hours for this position?
SOS requires at least 16 hours of weekly availability to be hired. Most subs are full-time and work every day 8 – 5pm. Child care programs typically run from 7am to 6pm so substitute work hours would reflect this.
