Job summary

Gulf Coast Region is seeking a Substitute Teacher to preserve the normal classroom routine by following the plans left by the teacher of record. This non-exempt, hourly role covers various units in Texas and supports daily instructional needs.

The Substitute Teacher will provide instruction, implement the absent teacher’s plans, and uphold campus routines while maintaining professional conduct and confidentiality. Prior teaching or substitution experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Fifteen college credits preferred.
  • Elementary or secondary teaching certification in a foundation subject area highly preferred.
  • Teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to students.
  • Perform absent teacher’s class plan.
  • Maintain the established routines and procedures of the campus and classroom.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Title: SubstituteTeacher

Wage/Hour Status:Non-Exempt

Pay Group:Contract Hourly

Primary Purpose: Preserve the normal routine of the classroom and follow the plans left by the teacher of record.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/Experience:

High school diploma from an accredited high school or hold GED.

Fifteen credit hours from an accredited college or university preferred.

Elementary or Secondary teaching certification in a foundation subject area highly preferred.

Teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Provide instruction to students.

2. Perform absent teacher’s class plan.

3. Maintain the established routines and procedures of the campus and classroom.

4. Perform other duties as assigned.

Policy, Reports, and Law:

5. Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information received in the performance of the job duties.

6. Perform duties in a professional manner through daily, punctual attendance at location of work assignment.

7. Follow Windham School District policies and procedures in completing assigned jobduties.

8. Execute duties in a professional, ethical and responsible manner as defined in 19 TAC Chapter 247, Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.

Environmental Demands:

Work inside and outside, noise, radiant/electrical energy, work alone, work with others, around machines with moving parts and objects, possible exposure to microwaves in use, exposure to hot and cold temperatures, exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals.
