Pittsylvania County Schools Division-wide - Chatham, Virginia is seeking a Substitute Teacher for daily contracted services for the current school year, with an immediate start date.

The role pays $12.77/hour for substitutes without a degree, $14.26/hour with a degree, and $16.87/hour for retired teacher substitutes. Reports to the building administrator and involves classroom supervision, attendance, and following the provided lesson plans.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and review lesson plans in advance.
• Dress professionally, adhering to Pittsylvania County Schools' Employee/Volunteer Dress Code Policy.
• Note room location and emergency evacuation plan (fire drill, etc.).
• Identify who to contact should you need help with discipline or other issues.
• Position yourself to greet students as they enter the classroom. Monitor both classroom and hall.
• Take attendance following school procedures.
• Follow lesson plans.
• Supervise students at all times.
• Adhere to all emergency codes.
• Follow dismissal procedures.
• Leave the room in an orderly manner.
• Leave notes for the teacher regarding any issues. Include student name, time and description of concerns.
• Complete the Teacher/Principal Report and leave in the office.
• SUpervise students at all times.
• Keep students on task to maintain discipline and order.
• Know how to call for assistance if needed.
• Report any student injuries immediately to the office.
