POSITION OVERVIEW: The instructional paraprofessional supports teachers and related service personnel in delivering high-quality instruction, implementing behavioral plans, and fostering social, emotional, and academic development for all students, with a focus on those with special education needs. • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
  • - Appropriate certification as a Teacher Assistant through RIDE or evidence of completion of an associate degree or higher;
  • - Evidence of knowledge and skills necessary to perform the functions of the position;
  • - Evidence of knowledge and/or implementation of instructional/behavioral strategies, materials and/or technologies;
  • - Evidence of ongoing professional development and training that may include the use of adaptive instructional and assessment materials;
  • - Demonstrated ability to learn new strategies, techniques, and technologies effectively;
  • - Ability to occasionally lift or restrain students;
  • - Effective written and oral communication skills;
  • - Be of good character;
  • - Training in the use of adaptive software, instructional and assessment materials;
  • - and / or any combination of education, experience, and knowledge and skills deemed substantially equivalent by the school committee or designee to those listed above
