Job Summary

Under the direction of management personnel and certificated staff, you will assist in the instruction, supervision, and training of students aged 1½ to 22 years with a variety of special education needs. Your duties will include delivering instructional services in multiple educational settings—classrooms, learning centers, vocational programs, community locations, and other facilities—while following established policies and procedures. You will work closely with certified teachers and staff, coordinate with parents and district personnel, and may support students across a range of conditions such as intellectual disability, severe physical/medical involvement, communication disorders, hearing/vision impairment, learning disorders, emotional disturbances, and behavior disorders.

Requirements / Qualifications
  • Completion of high school (12th grade) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic reading, writing, and math skills at the level required of high school seniors, which may be achieved by:
    • Proof of an Associate’s (AA) or Bachelor’s (BA) degree from a regionally accredited college.
    • 48 semester units with a C‑or‑better average.
    • Successful completion of the basic proficiency test administered by San Joaquin County Office of Education.
  • Preferred ability to work with students averaging ages 1½‑22 and experience in special education settings.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, staff, parents, and district personnel.
