Job description

DAEOC is seeking substitutes for our Head Start/Early Head Start centers. The successful candidate will work cooperatively, assisting the center staff with the operations of the center/classroom and other duties as deemed necessary.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Carry out assigned duties according the Head Start Performance Standards and Program Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist classroom staff and be actively engaged and involved in the operations of the classroom.
  • Assist with any assessments and screenings as directed.
  • Assure that no child is left alone.
  • Ensure proper voice tone is used with children, families, staff and public.
  • Assist in center as directed.
  • Assist with data entry as directed.

General Job Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with children and families served through the Head Start/Early Head Start program.
  • Promote Head Start/Early Head Start goals and ideals.
  • Serve as an advocate for the children and families receiving Head Start/Early Head Start services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information relating to children, families, and staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with the Head Start Performance standards and program policies and procedures.
  • Maintain respectful and professional demeanor with children, families, public, coworkers, and management.
  • Respect the diversity and culture of each child and family.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and use positive language.
  • Arrive to and depart work site regularly and on-time.
  • Must be a team player and assist other center staff when necessary.
  • Provides parents and public with appropriate literature and materials regarding Head Start and other community resources.
  • Maintain First Aide and CPR certification.
  • Report all instances of child abuse and neglect as required by law and submit a written report of all hotline calls according to program policies and procedures.

  • A valid Missouri Driver's License
