Job summary

USD 489 (Hays Public Schools) is seeking a Long Term Substitute School Nurse. The position requires an RN license in Kansas and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with at least one year of nursing experience. Tentative dates are October to February, with pay at $185.00 per day and hours as needed.

The substitute nurse will implement district health policies, promote a safe environment for students and staff, and manage health-related duties while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse licensed in Kansas.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Minimum of one year nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Implementation of the health policies established by USD 489 Board of Education and the State of Kansas.
• Promoting a safe environment for the protection of students and staff.
• Ability to greet students and public in a helpful, positive, and patient manner.
• Must be able to appreciate working with children of all ages and their parents.
• Comfortable with emergency situations and health issues such as vomiting, seizures, bleeding, injuries, asthma, or diabetic emergencies.
• Computer literate and willingness to learn new programs.
• Self-confidence, maturity, and the ability to remain calm in an emergency situation.
• Organized, self-directed, cooperative, and able to multi-task putting students' needs first.
• A positive role model for students.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
