Job summary

Braintree Public Schools Districtwide in Braintree, MA is hiring a Substitute School Nurse to cover the daily health office duties when regular nurses are absent. The RN must meet MA licensure requirements and be prepared to administer medications and respond to health needs throughout the school day.

Must hold MA RN license, CPR certification, and complete district orientation. Experience with pediatric health and electronic medical records, CORI and fingerprinting checks are required.

Qualifications

• Must have MA RN license to practice as an RN.
• BSN preferred.
• Must complete orientation program per Department of Public Health and the Braintree Public Schools.
• Must be certified and maintain CPR certification.
• Recent pediatric or community health experience.
• Computer experience with electronic medical records.
• Must complete a CORI check.
• Must complete fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the smooth operation of the Health Office and provide nursing care to students and staff including administration of medications.
• Proper documentation of student and staff encounters.
• Respond to special situations in the school or health office and collaborate with the school nursing director.

Job Description

The substitute nurse is a registered nurse who assumes the duties of the school nurse in the event of the school nurse's absence. Reports To: The Director of School Nursing Services and the chief administrator of the school building.

• Must have a valid license(MA RN) to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts. BSN preferred.


• Must complete an orientation program based upon guidelines issued from the Department of Public Health and the Braintree Public Schools.


• Must be certified and maintain current certification in CPR for healthcare professionals through a recognized provider (i.e. American Heart Association)


• Recent pediatric or community health experience


• Computer experience with electronic medical records


• Must complete a CORI check


• Must complete fingerprinting

Responsibilities

• Responsible to ensure the smooth operation of the Health Office and provide appropriate nursing care to students and staff including the administration of medications.


• Responsible for proper documentation of student and staff encounters.


• Responsible to respond to special situations which may occur in the school or health office and to collaborate with the school nursing director as circumstances arise.

Payrate: $260/day
