Job summary

Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC seeks a licensed school nurse to respond to student health needs during the school day and document assessments, responses, and outcomes of each encounter requiring nurse’s attention.

Responsibilities include administering medications and treatments, recognizing allergies and emergencies, performing health screenings, and collaborating with parents, teachers, and administrators to support student health and safety. Must hold a RN license with BLS/First Aid.

Qualifications

• Current BLS and First Aid certification.
• Pediatric/adolescent nursing experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled care for medically fragile students and follow health plans.
• Safely administer prescribed medications and treatments.

• Assess head injuries and ensure appropriate follow-up.
• Maintain proficiency in CPR, first aid and AED use.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to support student health and safety.
• Perform student health screenings as needed.
• Identify and report communicable diseases per applicable requirements.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for responding to health needs of students during the school day. Responsible for keeping record of assessments, response and outcome of each encounter requiring nurse’s attention.

Effectively Manage Student Health Needs

• Assess and respond to student health needs, including illness, injury, and medical emergencies
• Provide skilled care for medically fragile students and follow individualized health and emergency care plans
• Recognize and respond to allergies and anaphylaxis, including epinephrine administration
• Assess head injuries, recognize concussion symptoms, and ensure appropriate follow-up
• Safely administer prescribed medications and treatments, including inhalers, insulin, epinephrine, nasal sprays, and nebulizer treatments
• Maintain proficientcy in CPR, first aid and AED use
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to support student health and safety
• Perform student health screenings as needed.
• Identify and report communicable diseases according to applicable requirements

Effectively Manage Medical Records and Maintain Compliance

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student health visits, medications, treatments, and medical events

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Current BLS and First Aid certification
