Job Description

Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union (RNESU) is currently accepting applications for Substitute School Nurses for the 2026–2027 school year.

Position Summary

Substitute School Nurses provide nursing coverage for RNESU schools when regular school nursing staff are absent. Substitute nurses support the health, safety, and well-being of students by providing appropriate nursing care, responding to student health needs, administering medications and treatments as authorized, and collaborating with school staff, families, and healthcare providers as needed.

Qualifications
  • Current Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred.
  • School nursing experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and staff.
  • Strong communication, organization, judgment, and confidentiality skills.
  • Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to a variety of student health needs.
