Job summary

Lafayette County School District is seeking a Substitute Custodian to perform general cleaning and custodial tasks in school buildings and grounds. You will assist students, staff, and visitors while maintaining equipment and facilities.

Under supervision, you will handle cleaning duties, snow removal, deliveries, and basic repairs as needed. The role requires reliability and the ability to work in various school environments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to perform duties.
• Previous experience in building/cleaning maintenance is desirable.
• Mississippi Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Check and secure building at shift start and end.
• Clean rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways and other areas.
• Sweep, mop, buff, strip and wax floors.
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstery and blinds.
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows and doors.
• Set up and break down chairs, tables and equipment in meeting rooms.
• Clear snow from entrances and walks and spread ice-melting chemicals.
• Perform grounds-keeping duties and deliver supplies to classrooms.
