Job summary

Gretna Public Schools is seeking a Bus/Van Driver Substitute in Gretna, Nebraska, to support the Transportation Department. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, an unrestricted driver’s license, and a satisfactory driving record; CDL is preferred but not required.

The substitute driver will follow safety protocols, operate school buses and vans, and maintain order while transporting students between neighborhoods and schools.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules as students board and exit buses or cross streets near bus stops.
• Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
• Check tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment; perform pre- and post-inspections.
• Maintain order among students during trips for safety.
• Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled locations according to time schedules.
• Report bus malfunctions or needed repairs.
• Drive gasoline, diesel, or electric multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and activities.
• Prepare and submit reports on passengers, trips, hours worked, mileage, and behavior.
