Job summary

Kelso School District #458 is seeking a CDL-certified school bus driver to operate district routes and approved trips, ensuring strict safety and compliance with Washington state regulations. Applicants must have five years of driving experience, a valid WA School Bus Driver's Certificate (or obtain upon employment), and be able to meet the district's medical and training standards;

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Minimum of five years driving experience and provide a bus driving abstract.
• Must possess a valid Washington State School Bus Driver's Certificate or obtain upon employment.
• Interstate CDL certification required as of January 1, 2012.
• Must meet and maintain school bus driver requirements set forth in WAC 392-144.
• Hearing capability must be sufficient to detect traffic sounds from outside the bus.
• Vision must be 20/40 in best eye with or without correction and color vision adequate to distinguish traffic lights.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a school bus on routes and trips, in all weather conditions.
• Service, inspect and clean buses and related equipment as required.
• Perform required safety inspections of the bus and equipment.
• Maintain control of student passengers and ensure safety.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Complete state and district forms and records as required.
