Position: Bus Driver Substitute

Hours: Morning and/or afternoon hours available

Location: District Wide

Wage Information: $27.00/hour + $1.50/hour stipend for Substitute Routes

Description: South Washington County School District seeks bus drivers for substitute routes. Benefits include paid training, flexible hours, retirement contributions, and job security.

Qualifications: If you hold a CDL with School Bus endorsement, you will need to pass a driver record check, background check, interview, classroom training, behind-the-wheel evaluation, and pass the DOT drug screening. If not, training is provided; you must pass a CDL physical, obtain a permit with endorsements, complete training, and pass the Minnesota CDL/School Bus Road Test.

Position Summary: Safely transport students to and from school and activities, ensuring their safety on the bus.

Primary Job Functions:

• Inspect the bus before operation.
• Review route directions prior to driving.
• Follow designated routes, stops, and procedures for loading and unloading students.
• Transport authorized passengers.
• Obey all safety and traffic regulations.
• Complete required reports.
• Maintain cleanliness and fuel the bus.
• Operate two-way radio.
• Report mechanical issues.
• Maintain discipline and report problems.
• Report crashes immediately.
• Enforce no smoking/eating policies.
• Conduct post-trip inspections.
• Follow policies in the Transportation Department Handbook and employee contract.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
