Job summary

Qualifications

• Current State of Iowa Registered Nurse license.
• Current Basic Life Support or CPR certification.
• Clinical, hospital, pediatric, or school nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond calmly to student health needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine care for students who become ill or injured during the school day.
• Administer medications and treatments according to established orders and district procedures.
• Follow existing Individual Health Plans, 504 Plans, emergency action plans, and physician orders.
• Support students with chronic health needs using established care procedures.
• Respond to urgent health situations and contact the appropriate district nurse, parent, administrator, or emergency service when needed.
• Communicate with families and school staff as appropriate.
• Document health office visits, medications, treatments, and related communication.
• Provide support and direction to health associates when needed.
• Maintain an organized and welcoming health office.
• Follow district policies and applicable nursing requirements.
