Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a paraeducator to support students aged 4–14 in a Tukwila, WA classroom. You will work under school leadership and the Lead Teacher to ensure an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment.

You will implement instructional best practices across whole-group, small-group, and one-on-one formats, lead enrichment activities, and assist with comprehensive lesson plans from the Academic team. Strong data collection and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

  • Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college, or 72 quarter/48 semester credits at the 100 level+.
  • Have or qualify to obtain Crisis Prevention Institute training certification.
  • Have or qualify to obtain a food handler certification.
  • Possess or be eligible for an academic transcript and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Work with school leadership and Lead Teacher to support daily instruction.
  • Contribute to a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Support behavior management strategies and individual student needs.
  • Deliver instruction in whole-group, small-group, and 1:1 formats.
  • Lead enrichment and small-group literacy, math, language, and SEL.
  • Assist with lesson plans provided by the Academic team.
  • Support daily instruction and behavior interventions for students on caseload.
  • Provide 1:1 or small-group support and implement behavior plans.
  • Collect and analyze intervention data to improve instruction and behavior.
  • Provide interventions aligned with IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions with the team.
  • Supervise students and ensure safety during all periods and transitions.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, transitions, and safe recess play.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Work under the guidance and supervision of school leadership and in partnership with the classroom Lead Teacher
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, safe, and engaging classroom environment
  • Support effective classroom behavior management strategies and individual student needs
  • Execute instructional best practices aligned to Impact’s instructional model in whole-group, small-group, and one-on-one formats
  • Independently lead enrichment and small-group instruction supporting literacy, math, language development, and social-emotional learning
  • Assist the Lead Teacher with implementing comprehensive lesson plans provided by the Academic team
  • Assist with daily instruction and behavior interventions for students on caseload
  • Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support and implement individualized behavior management strategies
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze intervention data to improve instruction and behavior plans
  • Provide behavioral, social‑emotional, and academic interventions aligned with IEPs, Behavior Intervention Plans, Tier 2 Supports, and other student support plans
  • Monitor and track student progress and collaborate with the team to adjust interventions
  • Supervise assigned students and ensure student safety during instructional and non‑instructional periods, transitions, lunchtime, and other activities
  • Support students with activities of daily living, including toileting, hygiene, class transitions, and safe recess play
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college; or have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university; or have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment and completed an apprenticeship program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council
  • Must have or obtain a Crisis Prevention Institute training certification
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain a food handler certification
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain an academic transcript
  • Offer is contingent upon passing a fingerprint and background check
  • Complete Safeschools trainings
  • Any experience working with youth ages 4-14 is preferred
  • Proven commitment to and experience with serving students of color, students with disabilities, and/or multilingual students is preferred
  • Ability to work in an in‑person, school‑based position
  • Ability to perform the stated physical demands, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, frequent light lifting under 15 pounds, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds

Proficient in data collection and analysis to enhance instructional effectiveness and student progress monitoring.
