Job description

Lake Washington School District is looking for qualified Registered Nurses to work as Substitute Nurses on an as‑needed basis for the 2026-2027 school year. Work shift and schedule will vary based on the assignment. Substitute Nurses will fill in for regularly scheduled employees during absences and leaves and hours can be up to 40 hours per week.

Job Purpose Statement

• Provide nursing and school‑related health care needs for students, parents, and staff.
• Supervise and delegate care for medically fragile school‑age children.
• Ensure delivery of appropriate health care services and a safe school environment.
• Perform screening programs with assistance of parent volunteers and make appropriate follow‑up referrals.
• Perform state‑mandated immunization programs.
• Assist in the development and implementation of health education curriculum.
• Work with and delegate to para‑educator nursing procedures.

Hourly rate: $48.73 per hour. This is a non‑benefited position.

Qualified Candidates will be contacted by the Special Services Department if selected for an interview.

License / Special Requirements

• Valid Washington State Registered Nursing License.
• First aid‑ and CPR certification preferred.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license.
• Hepatitis B immunization.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or an associate degree in nursing or a nursing diploma earned in an accredited hospital program and job‑related experience.
• Five years of nursing experience desired.
