Job summary

Greece Central School District seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our health services team in a school environment. The RN or LPN license must be valid in New York State. The nurse will assist with triage, dispense medications, and support daily health operations for students and staff.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform medical and emergency treatments for students and staff; dispense medications as needed.

• Support the RN and assume duties during absences; assist with inventory of supplies.
• Attend to routine health needs and health education under supervision.

Minimum Requirements

Possession of a valid New York State Registered Professional Nursing (RN) license or valid New York State Licensed Professional Nursing (LPN) license.

• Working knowledge of practical nursing techniques;
• Ability to work with elementary, middle and/or high school students, staff and parents;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Good judgment;
• Ability to accurately record and report health/medical information;
• Ability to understand and carry out detailed oral and written instructions;
• Must have the ability to travel;
• Daily attendance is expected.

Position Summary / Responsibilities

• Performs medical and/or emergency treatments of injuries and illness of students and staff as required; dispense medications as needed;
• May attend to physical needs such as toileting, feeding, and lifting;
• Assists the School RN with daily triage of students with chronic and minor health concerns and communicates health concerns to parents as needed;
• Maintains an awareness of student status recognizing and reporting adverse signs; communicates and collaborates with members of the health care team;
• Assumes responsibility for an assigned office in the absence of the school nurse, under the direction of the District Medical Director;
• Participates in departmental and interdisciplinary committees as assigned;
• Maintains professional competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences;
• Records information on student health records, accident reports and sports eligibility forms;
• Assists with inventory of supplies;
• Extra hours may be required;
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
