Job Description

On a substitute basis, provide services to intensive needs students based on the need of the student’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bilingual in Yup’ik and English preferred.
  • Demonstrated successful experience working with young people with special needs in a school setting preferred.
  • Ability to carry out instructional activities with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Willingness to participate in future training programs as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents.
  • Current first aide/CPR certificate preferred.
  • Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment.
  • Ability to successfully carry out the duties described below.
  • Works with a specific students to present and reinforce lessons planned by the teacher.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
