Job description

Bismarck Public Schools is accepting applications for Substitute Instructional Aides!

This position works on an as-needed basis.

A substitute instructional aide assists the teacher and/or program specialist by working with students individually or in small groups.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  1. Drill work
  2. Reading aloud
  3. Storytelling
  4. Enrichment work or remedial work
  5. Assisting with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
  6. Assisting students with disabilities/severe disabilities such as helping students wash, use restroom, and assist them in getting clothes on and off. The aide could also have occasional exposure to work conditions that are undesirable or have exposure to unavoidable hazards; assist students who are medically fragile with their daily physical needs; and assist students with significant behavioral concerns.
  7. Assisting or tutoring students at the secondary level curriculum requiring a higher level of education or knowledge of subjects.
  8. Maintaining confidentiality of information about students.
