Substitute Head Start Cook at Vienna Head Start

Position Overview

This is a Substitute Cook position based at the Vienna Head Start in Vienna, Illinois. The role involves the safe preparation and delivery of CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) approved meals to infants, toddlers, and children enrolled in the program.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, at least 18 years of age, and a current Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification. Food service experience is preferred.

Compensation

Pay rate is $15.30/hour.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare meals for children using provided menus and recipes.
  • Complete and submit requisitions for food and supplies.
  • Drive to pick up local supplies (mileage reimbursed).
  • Maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Unload and store food deliveries properly.
  • Submit paperwork by deadlines.
  • Maintain a sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Make food substitutions following CACFP guidelines and document accordingly.
  • Accommodate special diets and food allergies as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet program needs.
