Cook

This position is a full-time (10 months/year) role based at Vienna Head Start in Vienna, Illinois. It includes a benefits package (such as personal and sick time accrual, holidays, health and life insurance, and an employer-sponsored cafeteria plan). The role involves the safe preparation and delivery of CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) approved meals to infants, toddlers, and children enrolled in the program.

Qualifications:

At minimum, a High School Diploma or GED is required. The applicant must be at least 18 years old and possess a current Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification. Experience in food service work is preferred.

Job Duties:
  1. Prepare meals for children using provided menus and recipes.
  2. Complete and submit requisitions for all necessary food and supplies.
  3. Drive own vehicle to pick up local supplies (mileage reimbursed per agency policy).
  4. Maintain accurate records of monthly food and non-food inventories.
  5. Unload food deliveries and store supplies according to guidelines.
  6. Submit required paperwork by set deadlines.
  7. Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen meeting food service sanitation standards.
  8. Make food substitutions that meet CACFP guidelines and document them accurately.
  9. Follow and accommodate special diets and food allergies as needed.
  10. Attend food service staff meetings and trainings as required.
  11. Perform any other duties as assigned to meet Head Start program requirements.
