Position Summary

The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is accepting applications for Substitute Teachers and Classified Substitutes. These are at-will positions that provide valuable support to schools on an as-needed basis. Substitute employees help ensure continuity of instruction and daily operations by filling in for regular staff when needed.

Substitute employees work on an on-call, day-to-day basis and are not guaranteed a regular work schedule.

Qualifications

• Non-Certified Substitute Teacher/Classified Substitutes: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Substitute Teacher: Must possess a current Alaska Initial, Professional, or Master Teacher Certificate.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to maintain effective classroom management by remaining engaged and aware of students.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students.

Pay Rates

• Certified Substitute Teacher: $30.00/hour
• Non-Certified Substitute Teacher: $25.00/hour
• Special Education Para Positions (Special Education Classroom Aides and Cross-Categorical Aides): $22.00/hour
• Standard Classified Substitutes (Secretary, Teaching Assistant, Custodian, etc.): $20.00/hour
