Job summary

VALLEJO CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Substitute Custodian to help keep school facilities clean and orderly. The role reports to the School/Site Manager within Maintenance and Operations and follows the Classified M&O/Transportation Salary Schedule.

Responsibilities include operating the heating system, cleaning classrooms, halls, and restrooms, performing minor repairs, setting up rooms for events, and ensuring security of the assigned area.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate the heating system to ensure buildings are properly heated.
• Water lawns, sweep sidewalks and pick up debris around the school area.
• Clean classrooms, halls and office areas; maintain order.
• Sweep, scrub, mop, wax and seal floors.
• Dust and polish furniture; clean windows, blinds, walls and fixtures.
• Collect waste paper and rubbish; keep areas tidy.
• Make minor non-technical repairs to buildings and equipment.
• Set up rooms for events at request of principal or plant custodian.
• Open/close windows and move desks or chairs; relocate heavy items.
• Report needed repairs to plant custodian or principal.
• Assume responsibility for security of the assigned area.
• Read, interpret and follow written/verbal instructions.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The Substitute Custodian, under the general direction of the Plant Custodian, keeps the assigned school facility, group of buildings, or office space clean and orderly and does related work as required.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

• Operate the heating system so that the buildings are properly heated. El

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS:

• Graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed below.
