Substitute Custodian, Lanett City Schools and Chambers County Schools

Description:

Responsibilities:
In the absence of a full-time custodial worker, the Kelly Education substitute custodian creates a clean, safe environment for students, staff, and school visitors, and acts under the direction and supervision of the school district’s full-time professional staff. Responsibilities include:

  1. Clean and sanitize restrooms using practices and procedures established by the school district.
  2. Clean, dust, and sanitize furniture.
  3. Sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.
  4. Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
  5. Refill dispensers.
  6. Wash accessible interior windows.
  7. Clean blinds.
  8. Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
  9. Launder cleaning rags and dust mops.
  10. Assist with the setup of facilities for classrooms, meetings, or events.
  11. Secure classrooms or building when facilities are not in use.
  12. Turn off lights.
  13. Lock and unlock assigned doors.
  14. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.
  15. Attend to urgent custodial matters when necessary.
  16. Report any school building or grounds safety concerns, or faulty equipment, to school district personnel.
  17. Report all personal injury or school property theft to Kelly supervisor and district/school personnel immediately.
  18. Dress in a safe and appropriate manner as described in the Kelly Education Standards of Professional Conduct.
  19. Follow sign-in and sign-out procedures as determined by the school district personnel.
  20. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
Minimum requirements: Must be 18 years of age. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Ability to establish effective working relationships with school district staff. Ability to positively relate to a younger generation of students. Ability to withstand frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
