The City of Stamford is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Substitute Custodian (full-time and part-time).

General Statement of Duties: Performs routine manual work and repetitive building cleaning tasks; does related duties as required.

Supervision Received: Works under the general direction of a Head Custodian or Lead Custodian.

Example of Duties: Sweeps, mops, washes and waxes interior floors and stairways; washes windows; moves, dusts and washes furniture; cleans lavatories; arranges cafeteria dining area for lunch; sweeps cafeteria floor and removes garbage; collects and disposes of rubbish; receives, stores and delivers supplies; shovels snow and sands walkways; moves light office equipment and other furniture.

Minimum Qualifications: Some knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in building custodial work, ability to follow written and oral instruction; ability to maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in work; ability to work with minimal supervision; sufficient physical strength and stamina to perform the duties required.
