RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Custodial Supervisor, Coordinator of Building & Grounds

Purpose of the Position

Maintain cleanliness of the school location and uphold a hygienic and sanitized environment to ensure the safety of educational staff and students.

Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

• Knowledge of effective and efficient cleaning procedures.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of district custodial operations.
• Knowledge of fire drill regulations and procedures.
• Understanding of emergency procedures and problem solving.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to follow written and visual instructions.
• Effective interpersonal skills with staff, students, parents, and community.
• Proficiency in using technology.
• Basic repair techniques knowledge.

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• Custodial experience preferred.

Equipment

• Cleaning equipment, vehicles, hand and power tools, snow removal equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks as scheduled, including floor care, sanitizing bathrooms, cleaning glass, furniture, whiteboards, and trash removal. Conduct minor repairs, maintain cleanliness, ensure building security, and assist with grounds and snow removal. Prepare building for the school year and communicate effectively using technology. Other duties may be assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Repetitive bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and hand movements.
• Work overhead, climb stairs/ladders, and work standing/moving for long periods.
• Work in varying weather conditions.

Working Conditions

• Extreme weather, exposure to fumes, noise, hazardous materials, and emergency situations.
