Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Clean offices, cafeterias, classrooms, libraries, gymnasiums, hallways, restrooms and other school facilities.
• Clean and maintain furniture, fixtures, floors, walls, windows and other surfaces.
• Dispose of rubbish.
• Clean and sweep sidewalks and outdoor areas as needed.
• Assist with arranging furniture and equipment.
• Assist with general maintenance.
• Provide deep cleaning when school is not in session, including scrubbing and waxing floors, painting and washing surfaces.
• Attend trainings and report safety concerns promptly.
• Coordinate with staff and departments as needed.
• Provide custodial services for school activities and after-hours events.

Reports To: Lead Custodian

Classification: Support Staff

Status: Part Time Temporary

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Description:

In the absence of a regularly assigned Custodian and under general supervision, provide overall cleaning, setup and simple maintenance of school buildings and grounds to provide a safe, comfortable, and clean working environment at the school.

Essential Job Elements:

• Clean offices, cafeterias, classrooms, libraries, gymnasiums, hallways, restrooms and other school facilities to provide a clean environment
• Clean and maintain furniture, fixtures, floors, walls, windows and other surfaces.
• Dispose of rubbish.
• Clean and sweep sidewalks and other outdoor areas as needed.
• Assist with arranging furniture and equipment.
• Assist with general maintenance.
• Provide deep cleaning when school is not in session including scrubbing and resurfacing floors, stripping and waxing floors, painting, washing walls, fixtures and furniture.
• Attend inservice training, as directed.
• Immediately report any vandalism, damage to school property, safety concerns or other potential problems that may affect productivity or the smooth operation of the school.
• Assures compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state and local codes, regulations and requirements.
• Coordinate and work cooperatively with staff, other departments and the public as needed.
• Provide custodial and related services for school activities and other after-hours events.
• Support and work effectively with supervisor and other administrators.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student, staff and management related information.
• Support with integrity the mission, vision, goals and positive culture of Joseph City Schools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Working Conditions:

Works with or near motorized tools and mechanical equipment. Noise level in the work environment may be moderate to high. Regularly subject to vibrations. Occasionally subject to fumes and dust. Caution necessary to avoid harm from misuse of chemicals and loud noise. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with time constraints and multiple priorities and interact with students, other employees, and public.
