Job summary

CASS LAKE-BENA PUBLIC SCHOOLS is seeking a dedicated custodian to provide cleaning, maintenance, and housekeeping services to keep buildings safe and well-maintained. Under supervision, you will perform restroom sanitation, floor care, window washing, and general upkeep to support students and staff.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, and preferred first aid or CPR certification; Minnesota driver’s license, and background check; prior school system experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• First aid certification preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Prior experience within an educational system or working with children preferred.
• Good organizational and communication skills and the ability to interact with the public.
• Valid Minnesota Driver's License.
• Must complete the necessary application process and pass a criminal background check and drug screening test.

Responsibilities

• Cleans restrooms and sanitizes sinks, toilets and drinking fountains.
• Sweeps, mops, power scrubs and waxes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets, washes windows, sands and refinishes wood floors, washes walls, cleans blinds and blackboards.
• Assembles, moves, dusts and polishes furniture. Sets up and tear downs tables and chairs.
• Collects garbage and recyclable materials and places in appropriate containers.
• Maintains building security. Locks and unlocks doors and windows.
• Assists with fire drills
• Removes snow and ice from building entrances, sidewalks, driveways, and play areas

Performance Responsibilities

• The following duties are normal for this classification. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Tasks may risk exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents and toxic/poisonous agents.
