Minimum Qualifications
  1. Must possess an appropriate classification of driver’s license.
  2. Must be familiar with the Vehicle and Traffic Law, regulations of the Commissioner of Education pertaining to pupil transportation.
  3. Must complete the Basic 30-hour Bus Driver Training course during the first year of employment, and attend two refresher courses each year as mandated by the State Education Department, along with any other mandated courses.
  4. Must comply with DMV, State Education, and DOT requirements – including DOT drug and alcohol testing, annual physical, biennial written, and road tests, and all other specific requirements.
  5. Possess an even temperament and the ability to understand and carry out the objectives of the position in a manner conducive to good personal relationships. Also, must have good judgment, good moral character, personal cleanliness, be courteous, neat, cooperative, punctual, tactful, dependable, honest, and loyal.
