Job summary

Clatskanie School District 6-J is seeking a qualified Bus Driver to operate District vehicles and transport students safely, following all federal, state, and district safety rules. A valid Class B CDL and Oregon School Bus Driver’s Certificate (or ability to obtain within 60 days) are required, along with a high school diploma and English communication skills.

Qualifications

• Proficient oral and written communication skills in English.
• Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications.
• Hold a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a valid Oregon School Bus Driver’s Certificate or be able to obtain both within 60 days.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Transport students in District vehicles of various sizes, as assigned.
• Manage student behavior while being transported in a District vehicle.
• Communicate with other school or program staff to address student concerns.
• Ensure the safety of students in and around District vehicles.
• Operate District vehicles in accordance with federal, state, and District safety regulations.
• Coordinate the loading and unloading of students with mobility needs and ensuring that students are properly secured in safety equipment.
• Develop and maintain vehicle evacuation plans and perform drills with students.
• Perform pre-trip inspections to ensure proper vehicle operating conditions.
• Clean District vehicles both inside and outside.
• Report vehicle accidents and vehicle concerns in a timely manner.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
