Transport students to and from school and school-related events and activities in a school bus or van. This position is daily, on-call, and hours will vary based on the specific needs of the Transportation Department.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, other employees, and/or students.
Ability to apply basic arithmetic calculations using units of American money, weight measurements, volume, and distance.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to manage children effectively. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community. Ability to work effectively under pressure and in stressful situations, and maintain control in emergency situations. Ability to read and follow maps, route schedules, and instructions. Ability to perform duties in accordance with all district and State requirements and policies.
