Description

Catalyst teaching staff support the planning and implementation of Catalyst's programming for children ranging in age from infants to school age, depending on the location. Assistant Teachers must facilitate age-appropriate activities, support children's social and emotional development, and ensure children are supervised at all times in a healthy and safe environment.

Essential Functions

• Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with learning foundations and promotes positive child development.
• Maintain enriching, supportive, and age-appropriate learning environments and experiences for all children.
• Provide excellent customer service by establishing authentic, reciprocal, and culturally responsive relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Ensure children's health and safety through proper supervision, positive interactions, healthy habits, and compliance with safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality programs and foster a positive workplace environment.

Work Environment

All teaching staff should demonstrate behaviors essential for successful programs, including positive interactions, maintaining respectful and safe environments, punctuality, active participation in indoor and outdoor activities, and physical and mental readiness to meet children's needs.

Physical & Environmental Conditions

Staff will be exposed to indoor and outdoor elements and should be capable of performing physical tasks such as lifting up to 15 lbs, navigating various terrains, and supervising outdoor activities and field trips.

Qualifications & Experience

The role is entry-level, supporting classroom needs under supervision. Qualifications include:

• 6 postsecondary semester units in Early Childhood Education or related fields, or
• Regional occupation program certificate in child care, accredited by WASC.

Preferred experience includes:

• 6 months in a group care environment, effective communication, organization, and safety certifications (CPR & First Aid).

Additional Details

Position is full-time or part-time with a flexible substitute schedule, offering hourly pay from $18.19 to $27.29. Benefits include health, retirement, paid time off, education reimbursement, and staff discounts.
