Job summary

The University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA is seeking a temporary substitute in an early childhood education setting. You will implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities to support the learning, development, and well‑being of individual children and groups.

You will help maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that meets the needs of all learners, including dual language learners and children with disabilities, and you will support families

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Certifications in CPR, First Aid, Mandatory Reporter, OSHA or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Childcare experience preferred; student experience considered.

• Provide substitute coverage in early childhood setting and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities.
• Support learning, development, and well being of children and groups.

Job Description: Primary Function: Provides substitute coverage in an early childhood education setting by implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities that support the learning, development, and well-being of individual children and small and large groups; maintains a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that meets the needs of all learners, including children who are dual language learners and children with disabilities; supports positive communication with families and staff; follows established classroom routines and program policies; and assists in supervising children and supporting classroom personnel as needed.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus current CPR, First Aid, Mandatory Reporter, Universal Precautions (OSHA), and Essential Child Care Training certifications or ability to acquire certification within 90 days of hire.

Occasional work outside of normal hours will be necessary.

Preferred Qualifications: Childcare experience. Student experience will be considered.

Position Details: Job Category: Professional and Scientific; Type of Position: Temp; Schedule: Hours will vary, as this position provides substitute coverage for Child Development Specialists during planned and unplanned absences.

Compensation: $16.23 to Commensurate Pay Grade: 116 Pay Basis: Hourly FLSA Status: Non-Exempt; position is eligible for overtime or comp time.
