Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking a Day-to-Day Substitute for the 2026-2027 school year to support teachers across Tucker County. This as-needed role involves assisting with classroom activities and implementing the instructional program.

You will monitor students on the bus when assigned, follow behavior management guidelines, complete required trainings, pass the state competency test and background check, and maintain a courteous, professional demeanor with a flexible schedule to accommodate

Qualifications

• Must pass WV State Competency Aide Classification Test.
• Background check required.
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• May need to ride a bus.
• Ability to lift or assist with student safety equipment.
• Flexible schedule to accommodate bus times.
• Maintain courteous and professional demeanor.
• Follow behavior management for training sessions and addressing disruptive behavior.
• Complete 3 days of classroom training and 1 day of wheelchair/harness bus training.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Substitute aides assist the teacher(s) with classroom activities
• To implement the instructional program including working directly with children in small groups or on a one-to-one basis
• To motivate students to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good educational foundation, with each student's ability
• The aide assigned to a school bus assists with the supervision of student passengers on the bus, including securing student passengers in various types of safety restraints
