Job summary

The Learning Lamp is seeking Substitute Aides to support students in school districts across Cambria, Somerset, and Bedford Counties. Hours are flexible and based on district schedules, with part-time benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities include daily living assistance, mobility support, classroom participation, and collaboration with teachers to meet each student’s unique needs. A positive, inclusive environment is fostered by our team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is the minimum education requirement.
  • Willingness to pass required clearances and training to ensure child safety.
  • Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending for long periods.
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs preferred.
  • Patience, empathy and ability to collaborate with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with activities of daily living, including hygiene and dressing.
  • Provide physical and emotional support to students as needed.
  • Follow individualized care plans developed with teachers and nurses.
  • Support in the classroom and with instructional materials as required.
  • Maintain open communication with teachers, parents and staff.

Ignite Education Solutions is hiring Substitute Aides to work in School Districts throughout Cambria, Somerset, and Bedford Counties.

What are the duties and responsibilities?

Assist Students with Activities of Daily Living:

  • Help students with personal hygiene tasks, including toileting, grooming, and dressing.
  • Support students in mobility and transferring as needed.

Provide Physical and Emotional Support:

  • Assist students with physical disabilities in moving around the school, classrooms, and other facilities.
  • Offer emotional support and encouragement to students facing challenges.

Implement Individualized Care Plans:

  • Follow individual care plans developed in collaboration with teachers, school nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure that the unique needs of each student are met.

Support in the Classroom:

  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to facilitate students' participation in classroom activities.
  • Assist with instructional materials and adaptive equipment as required.

Communication:

  • Maintain open communication with teachers, parents, and school staff regarding students' progress and any concerns.
  • Attend meetings with the educational team to discuss and update care plans.
  • Encourage and empower students to develop and maintain independence in daily activities whenever possible.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
What are the required qualifications?
  • High school diploma is the minimum education requirement.
  • Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.
  • Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with special needs or disabilities is preferred.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively with a team, and adapt to changing situations.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and privacy requirements related to student information.
