Job summary

Olsson is seeking a Structural Engineer – Substation to lead the structural design of substation foundations, steel structures, and equipment supports across our Transmission and Substation team. You will work closely with electrical engineers, designers, and project managers through all project phases.

The role focuses on technically challenging work, mentoring others, and delivering essential infrastructure projects that strengthen power delivery systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
• 6+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, preferably including substation or industrial facilities.
• Experience designing concrete foundations and structural steel systems.
• Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ACI, AISC, IBC, ASCE).
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Structural design & analysis for substation facilities, foundations, steel structures, and equipment supports.
• Support projects through conceptual design, detailed engineering, permitting, and construction administration.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers, designers, and other disciplines for constructible designs.
• Provide technical leadership and review designs by junior engineers and designers.
• Participate in client meetings and provide construction support, including limited travel to sites.
