Job summary

HDR is hiring a structural engineer to execute design tasks for substation structures and foundations up to 500kV. You will prepare drawings and calculations for fabrication, support layout designs, and review material specs.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Structural Engineering, 2+ years of design experience, and willingness to obtain PE/SE licenses. Collaboration with multiple offices and site visits are essential to success.

Qualifications

> Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering; Engineer in Training (EIT) is preferred or required for progression.
> Willingness to obtain PE license and SE license.
> 2+ years of technical design experience on high voltage substation projects up to 500kV.
> Familiarity with NESC, NEC, IEEE, ANSI, ASCE-113, AISC-360, ASCE-7, ACI-318 and related standards.
> Experience with STAAD, RISA, MFAD, L-Pile or equivalent software.
> Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration across multiple offices.

Responsibilities

Execute structural engineering tasks for substation structural members and foundations.
Develop drawings and calculations for fabrication and fabrication submittals.
Coordinate with Designers and CADD Technicians to align with standards and project specs.
Support substation layout designs, plans, elevations, and BOMs.
Prepare and review construction & materials specifications.
Manage multiple projects concurrently across locations.
Conduct site visits during design, construction and as-built phases.
