Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Protection & Control Engineer to design protection and control projects for electric utilities from 12kV to 500kV. The role includes developing single-lines, schematics, and wiring designs, with exposure to how renewables connect to the grid.

The position offers a hybrid work model with 3 days in the Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, or Orlando offices, plus 2-3 in-person days to strengthen collaboration and client relations, and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

  • Design substation protection and control systems for voltages from 12kV up to 500kV.
  • Knowledge of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits used in substation projects.
  • Experience with transmission and distribution studies and substation wiring designs.

Responsibilities

  • Design and planning activities related to electric transmission, distribution, and substation facilities.
  • Prepare single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring designs for substations.
  • Coordinate with local and nationwide utility clients and project teams.

We are looking for a Substation Protection & Control Engineer to join our team in our Substation South Group. As a Protection & Control Engineer, candidates will have the opportunity to design substation protection and control projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV up to 500kV. This is an exciting and growing field in the power systems industry and allows candidates to get exposure to how the power generation such as that of renewable energy ties into the electric system. Candidates will be expected to use knowledge of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits to design substation electrical projects.

We have a Mid, Senior, Lead Level Electrical Engineers for the position located across the South. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for design and planning related activities associated with electric transmission, distribution, and substation facilities. This includes preparation of single-lines, schematics, and wiring designs for substations and quality control checks for wiring designs. Responsibilities will also include preparation of studies and reports for transmission and distribution systems.
