Qualifications

  • Minimum two-year technical degree in engineering or construction discipline.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible construction experience preferred.
  • Experience overseeing contractors or field construction activities in utility or infrastructure environments.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs, and contract documents.
  • Strong communication, organization, time management, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the service territory and work extended hours when required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate daily activities of external construction contractors performing utility-related civil, maintenance, restoration, and infrastructure work.
  • Monitor contractor performance, project progress, and field productivity with accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices, environmental compliance, and adherence to all regulations and standards.
  • Review project scopes, schedules, and contract obligations for successful execution.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management to support delivery.
  • Verify construction activities align with drawings, specifications, and contract terms.
  • Participate in constructability reviews, planning meetings, and site assessments.
  • Ensure permits, licenses, and approvals are in place before start.
  • Prepare project updates and maintain records in PM/reporting systems.
  • Review invoices, monitor change orders, and ensure billing aligns with work completed.
  • Support continuous improvement through accountability, efficiency, and quality.

Sr. Supervisor, Civil & Substation Contracted Construction Management | Allied Resources Technical Consultants
About the Position:

Allied Resources is seeking a Sr. Supervisor, Civil & Substation Contracted Construction Management to support utility construction operations throughout the Central New York region. This individual will oversee third-party construction contractors performing civil, substation, maintenance, and infrastructure projects while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Direct and coordinate the daily activities of external construction contractors performing utility-related civil, maintenance, restoration, and infrastructure work.
  • Monitor contractor performance, project progress, and field productivity while maintaining accurate project documentation and reporting.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices, environmental compliance, and adherence to all applicable regulations and company standards.
  • Review and understand project scopes, work authorizations, schedules, and contractual obligations to ensure successful project execution.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, project management, and other stakeholders to support seamless project delivery.
  • Verify construction activities are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Participate in constructability reviews, project planning meetings, and site assessments to identify and address potential field challenges.
  • Confirm permits, licenses, and required approvals are in place prior to construction activities commencing.
  • Prepare written and verbal project updates and maintain accurate records within project management and reporting systems.
  • Review contractor invoices, monitor change orders, and ensure billing aligns with contract terms and completed work.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by promoting accountability, efficiency, quality workmanship, and strong contractor performance.
  • Provide field oversight to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget expectations.
Qualifications:
  • Specialized technical, vocational, military, or industry training combined with relevant construction experience; or a minimum two-year technical degree in an engineering or construction-related discipline.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in construction, utility infrastructure, military operations, or related industries preferred.
  • Experience overseeing contractors, subcontractors, or field construction activities within utility, civil, or infrastructure environments.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, schematics, project scopes, and contract documents.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, field operations, and associated safety risks.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify project issues proactively and implement practical solutions.
  • Strong communication, organization, time management, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments and project teams.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the assigned service territory and work extended hours when required for project needs or emergency response activities.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
