Primoris Power Solutions in Lewisville, TX seeks a Substation Project Engineer (Remote) to lead electrical design and project execution for utility substations, including relay upgrades, transformer replacements, RTU installations, and new substations. You will develop scope definitions, estimates, and schedules, and coordinate with project managers.

The role requires at least 5 years in substation design and construction, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, and professional licensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Electrical.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in substation design and construction.
• Professional Engineer license or certification desirable; knowledge of applicable engineering codes.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of utility substation designs and standards to projects.
• Provide electrical and physical design for substations and upgrades.
• Develop scope definitions, estimates, and project schedules.
• Prepare specifications and material lists; oversee drawings and QA/QC.
• Mentor Design Engineers and coordinate with clients and vendors.

This flexibility allows us to adapt to your unique requirements, ensuring a project delivery approach that maximizes efficiency and value.We are currently looking for a **Substation Project Engineer** to join the Lewisville, TX team!**Duties & Responsibilities**Employees may perform any or all of the following:* **Engineering:** Apply sound knowledge of utility substation designs and standards.* **Provide electrical design:** For projects like relay upgrades, breaker additions/upgrades, transformer replacements, RTU installations, and new substations.* **Provide physical design:** For projects like bus additions, new equipment installations, and new substations.* **Create project deliverables:** Develop scope definitions, estimates, and schedules; collaborate with Project Managers to ensure on-time and on-budget completion.* **Prepare specifications:** Develop specifications and material lists.* **Oversee drawings:** Manage preparation of review sets and final construction sets.* **Handle project closeout:** Oversee as-built revisions.* **Project Communication:** Interact with clients, utility personnel, manufacturers' representatives, and others as needed.* **Stay informed:** Keep up with developments in electric utility substation design & construction; suggest improvements.* **Serve as lead:** Act as Lead Engineer on assigned projects.* **Perform site visits:** Conduct documentation and inspections at job sites as required.* **Mentor team:** Train Design Engineers, Designers, and Electrical CAD Technicians.* **Additional duties:** As assigned by the Manager of Electrical Engineering or a Senior Protection & Control Engineer.**Minimum Qualifications & Experience****Education*** Bachelor's degree in engineering, strong preference for Electrical**Required Experience*** Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design and construction* Professional Engineering License or Professional Certification (desirable).* Working knowledge of scheduling software and spreadsheet programs.* Knowledge of applicable engineering codes.**Skills*** **Interpersonal:** Ability to interact successfully with all levels of staff, clients, and vendors; work collaboratively.* **Project Management:** Plan, organize, and implement projects with successful, timely results; mentor and direct team members.* **Efficiency:** Efficient use of software, materials, and equipment to minimize costs; dedication to on-schedule completion; efficient time management; willingness to work unusual/extended hours as needed to support field construction* **Attention to Detail:** Close focus on details; consistency, accuracy, and thoroughness.
