Job summary

Primoris Power Solutions is seeking a Substation Project Engineer to join the Lewisville, TX team on a hybrid schedule (in-office Mon-Wed). You will lead electrical engineering tasks for relay upgrades, transformer replacements, and RTU installations while guiding design teams and coordinating with Project Managers to meet deadlines and budgets.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of substation design/construction experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design and construction.
• Professional Engineer license or certification is desirable.
• Working knowledge of scheduling software and spreadsheet programs.
• Knowledge of applicable engineering codes.

Responsibilities

• Apply sound knowledge of utility substation designs and standards.
• Provide electrical design for relay upgrades, breaker additions/upgrades, transformer replacements, RTU installations, and new substations.
• Provide physical design for bus additions, new equipment installations, and new substations.
• Develop scope definitions, estimates, and schedules; collaborate with Project Managers to ensure on-time and on-budget completion.
• Develop specifications and material lists.
• Manage preparation of review sets and final construction sets.
• Oversee as-built revisions and project closeout.
• Interact with clients, utility personnel, manufacturers’ representatives, and others as needed.
• Keep up with developments in electric utility substation design & construction; suggest improvements.
• Act as Lead Engineer on assigned projects.
• Conduct site visits for documentation and inspections.
