Job summary

HDR, Inc. invites you to join our Power Delivery team as a Substation Project Engineer in Round Rock, TX. You will advance high voltage substation design, work independently, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with Civil, Networks, and Transmission teams.

The role emphasizes one-line and protection/controls design, grounding, and construction-ready documentation, with opportunities to lead projects and travel as needed. HDR offers ownership culture and growth.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
5 years of experience in substation design is preferred.
Experience with one line diagrams, grounding, equipment wiring, and relay/control systems.
Professional Engineer license or eligibility for licensure.

Responsibilities

Support preparing scopes, schedules, and budgets and ensure they are met.
Understand physical substation design including yard layouts, grounding, and protection.
Prepare calculations for grounding, lighting protection, and AC/DC studies.
Prepare equipment specifications for procurement/testing.
Coordinate design activities with Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission teams.
Effectively communicate and coordinate project activities with the manager and clients.
May mentor and supervise less-experienced EITs and Designers.
