Job summary

Progressive seeks a Lead Engineer in Oakland, CA to drive engineering and design on routine to mid-complex substation projects from scope to closeout. You will develop scope, schedule, and cost estimates from field data and review design drawings for accuracy and code compliance.

You will procure long-lead materials, provide construction support, and resolve field issues while coordinating with project managers, contractors, and internal teams to maintain schedule and budget.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and design on routine to mid-complex substation projects from scope to closeout.
• Conduct project walk downs to develop scope, schedule, and cost estimates from field data.
• Review design drawings and technical documents for accuracy and code compliance.
• Procure long-lead-time material; track and report project progress through delivery.
• Provide construction support and resolve field issues as they arise.
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and internal departments to keep work on schedule and budget.
• Communicate project status and risks to internal and external stakeholders.
• Apply independent judgement under general direction; may guide less-experienced engineers on the team.
